Shel Howard Beugen has been creating art for over 40 years. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he is a graduate of the University of Minnesota (B. A., M.A.) and did post-graduate work at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His early work developed as an extension of his training as a floral designer, and he continues to explore visual and physical relationships through his paintings and constructions.

A long-time resident of Chicago, his work has been exhibited in over 40 galleries, art spaces and museums including the Muskegon Museum of Art, Chicago Cultural Center, Southern Ohio Museum, Lewis University, Evanston Art Center, Bridgeport Art Center, Beverly Art Center, and North Shore Art League. His art is included in private collections in California, Florida, Michigan, Texas, and Illinois.

He is a member of The Chicago Society of Artists, The Chicago Alliance of Visual Artists, and The North Shore Art League.
